Installation at California Eta
The chapter was installed on January 26, 1974. The Initiation Ceremony took place at St. Mark Church in Newport Beach, California. The installation banquet was held at in the Skyliner Room at the Airporter Inn Hotel in that same city. Three alumnae clubs helped plan and organize the festivities: Central, North Orange County and South Coast. It was a special occasion and all the Pi Phis wore formal dresses.
Living at California Eta
The California Eta Chapter house is special because it is a part of University of California, Irvine (UCI) housing community. The chapter house is a cross between a dorm and a house. The house is owned by UCI and therefore only available in the school year. It has 12 bedrooms that are all doubles. There are 24 women who live in the house, along with a Residence Advisor who is almost always a Pi Phi..png?width=332&height=250)
An interesting item in the house is the study room that is called the Hale room in honor of Elsie Beall Hale, a member of the Chapter House Corporation for her work and dedication to the house.
