Philanthropic Event: Lemonade for Literacy
Installation of Florida Zeta
The 200th chapter of Pi Beta Phi was installed February 1, 2014, a landmark moment in Fraternity history. The Initiation Ceremony was held at Hyde Park Methodist Church. Pi Phi held a magnificent Cookie Shine and invited the entire fraternity and sorority community to join. The installation banquet was held in the Crescent Room in the Vaughn Center on campus. Special guest speakers included Pi Beta Phi Archivist and Historian Fran Desimone Becque, New York Alpha.
Living at Florida Zeta
At the University of Tampa, the fraternity and sorority community does not live in houses, but that doesn’t hinder the unity. Weekly chapter meetings are held on the top floor of a building that overlooks the entire city of Tampa. Many Pi Phi functions are held in this same room; it is the closest thing the chapter has to a house.
Being a new chapter means most of the items were donated to the chapter. For the Candlelighting Ceremony on Founders’ Day, Florida Zeta Chapter uses a beautiful, handcrafted gold arrow candle holder. This piece was donated by the Clearwater Alumnae Club for the ceremony, but it is used for many other celebrations because it is so beautiful.
Panhellenic Groups on Campus
Alpha Chi Omega, Delta Gamma, Delta Zeta, Kappa Alpha Theta, Pi Beta Phi, Sigma Delta Tau and Sigma Kappa.
Philanthropic Service
Lemonade for Literacy is an event the Florida Zeta Chapter has put on almost every semester. Participants can donate a book for a cup of lemonade and some snacks.
