The History of the Los Angeles - Santa Monica, California, Alumnae Club

This club is 3-in-1! Los Angeles-Santa Monica, California, Alumnae Club covers 83 ZIP codes across the Greater Los Angeles Area. The club was chartered back in 1906. In 1929, the Santa Monica club was chartered, two years after California Delta was installed at the University of California Los Angeles. Shortly after WWII, the San Fernando Valley club was chartered. For nearly 50 years, these three clubs operated independently, but as membership dwindled all three clubs eventually merged into Los Angeles-Santa Monica, California, Alumnae Club in the 1990s.

Here’s an excerpt from page 153 of The History of Pi Beta Phi Fraternity: “Los Angeles Alumnae Club, Los Angeles, California, was organized January 12, 1901, and chartered December 13, 1906. This club is composed of Pi Phis from many chapters, and is a wide-awake, progressive club. It has about one hundred members.”
