The History of the San Antonio, Texas, Alumnae Club

The San Antonio, Texas, Alumnae Club is a huge supporter of Pi Phi's University of the Texas Alpha Chapter Austin. Many of the club members are Texas Alphas who continue to stay involved locally.

One club tradition includes providing the chapter with a wonderful dinner during recruitment. It is something all the members look forward to each year.

Philanthropic Service

As a club, the annual fundraiser to benefit literacy has always been a gathering of friends and food. In the past, members used to do progressive dinners at alumnae club member homes. In the more recent years, the club hosts the Gourmet SoirĂ©e. The women who started this event 15 years ago will be chairing the event again this year. The event is a cooking demonstration by a notable chef then a luncheon serving the food shown in the demonstration. At this event, members sell signed cookbooks and raffle tickets. Funds raised in this event benefit Pi Beta Phi Foundation and the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, where the club has a book cart and a book bag program.
